Mom's Hamburger Stroganoff

This is a recipe I got from my Mom back when I was in college. I've kept the hand written recipe she gave me all these years. It finally occurred to me that it should be shared. It's delicious, a little bit decadent and easy to make.

1 lb. Ground beef
1 Medium onion
6 Strips of bacon
1 8 oz. Container of sour cream
1 Packet of onion soup mix
Egg noodles

Large skillet w/lid
Sharp knife

  • Chop the onion and bacon
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onion and bacon
  • Drain the excess liquid from the skillet
  • Stir in the contents of the packet of onion soup mix
  • Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Cook the egg noodles according to package directions
  • Just before serving, stir in the sour cream into the beef mixture
  • Heat through, but do not allow to boil
  • Serve over egg noodles
